hi, I have been reading quite a lot of self-help books and also watch some talks given by the authors. I found that sometimes I can get 80% of the key points from the 30-min talk while if I read the entire book it would typically take 5-10 hours. So I wonder, since I mainly read self-help books for learning, not for fun, would it be better to just watch talks instead? Would I miss anything by not reading the book itself?
Wanted to hear what you guys think. Thanks!

Self-help books are mostly junk, so you’d at least be saving time if you listened to the lectures instead of reading the books.
