I enjoy a good romance in fiction but I just get kind of annoyed when the male hero of a hetero romance is always a tall, sinewy prince/billionaire/alpha-male/sex god. I want to find one about regular, average people falling in love and hooking up in a way that feels real, but the small handful of suggestions I could find online are contemporary/modern day setting. Anyone know of anything like this in a fantasy or sci fi setting? Hetero is my preference but queer recs are also welcome. Thanks!
