Does Colleen Hoover have a bad rep? I don’t do book clubs or follow news. I just pick up what I like at the store and read. I was discussing my disappointment with the first book I’ve read of hers and was shocked at how controversial it seemed to have one or two positive comments?

I found the writing quite basic and there was definitely a lack of depth. I prefer books with more depth and "layers". I didn't realize she is the author of 'it ends with us'. I just saw the book on the shelf and thought I may enjoy it. I did read the book quickly until I stopped, and did enjoy the general storyline (Verity). A lot of it seemed quite implausible and the events just seem a bit unrealistic, but there was an element of enjoyment for the first half of the book. It went downhill though in the last chapters for me and I lost interest in finishing. What is the general view of her books? Can someone fill me in? It seemed quite controversial that I had some positive comments about the book.
