I'm rereading A Song of Ice and Fire and though the later books are a bit of a slog, I love how deep the worldbuilding is and how Westeros feels like a real place. I know this is a big ask but can you recommend any other books or series that approximate that level of depth?
Ideally not too overtly generic Western Middle Ages-inspired because I find that a little boring (and assume I've read most of the really famous fantasy classics from before like the 1980s, like Lord of the Rings etc.). I really like the horror/Lovecraftian elements in ASOIAF so anything like that would be great too.
