So recently I got The Midnight Library and I couldn’t stand it. It was boring and it was really predictable. I really wanted the complete opposite of that, so what are some books that are just outright insane. I mean it in a “This is so bizarre/weird that I have to keep reading.” way, not a “Oooh disturbing scary demonic shit” way. Think something like the Chainsaw man series from Tatsuki Fujimoto. It doesn’t have to be any specific genre as long as it gives a feel like what I am asking for.

Chuck Palaniuk books are like that. You probably know the movie “Fight Club”, it was based on one of his novels.
*The Dog of the South* is kind of a surreal comedy road trip through Texas/Central America where you never really know what is going to happen next and the characters are just strange enough that you’d like to find out.
MEXICAN GOTHIC. I could have never freaking guessed
Vernon God Little
Rant By Chuck Palaniuk
Lullaby by Chuck Palaniuk
Diary by Chuck Palaniuk
Tender is the Flesh
The Unoticables by Robert Brockway
John Dies at the End by Jason Pargin
Well if you’re talking about books that feel like a fever dream:
Several People are Typing by Calvin Kasulke.
The Seep by Chana Porter.
Geek Love – Katherine Dunn
The Dice Man – Luke Rhinehart
The Library at Mount Char – Scott Hawkins
I gotcha covered on this one…
[The Hike by Drew Magary](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/27833803-the-hike?ref=nav_sb_ss_2_8)
Honestly, I couldn’t even begin to describe it. And I’ve never seen anyone else who could either. A guy goes for a short afternoon hike and then he’s somewhere else. And he encounters so much craziness (like a potty-mouthed talking crab named Crab). There are some twists and it turns out to actually be quite meaningful. It’s a total blast to read. You’ll never know what hit you 😉
