Hello! Just for some context when I was 19 I lost one of my closest friends of 5 years to suicide. It’s been almost a year and it’s not been any easier. I work a lot and keep myself busy but nearly every time I have a second without my mind being preoccupied I think about him. It’s not outright sobbing just that painful overwhelming ache that’s all consuming of being unable to even accept it happened.
Are there any good books of someone going through their journey of grief? Or books you’d recommend to someone grieving? I’m not a religious person, so I would not find solace in books where an author grieves through faith. Thank you!

banana yoshimoto writes very warm books about grief — kitchen, moshimoshi (neither religious at all)
and sorry for your loss!!
