I am currently reading Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and absolutely loving it. Though I am trying to ration myself a bit so I don’t finish too fast. I am away this weekend and will potentially have some chunks of reading time so will either finish it and need another or alternate.
I have a list of physical books I’ve recently got but can’t decide what to take:
– We Have Always Lived in the Castle by Shirley Jackson
– Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah
– O Caledonia by Elspeth Barker
– The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff
– Death Comes for the Archbishop by Willa Catherine
– Regeneration trilogy by Pat Barker
– Collection of short stories Nikolai Gogol
– The Death of Vivek Oji by Akwaeke Emezi
– Mouthful of Birds by Samanta Schweblin
So would love to get ideas (with why) of what to take. Normally I just buy and read straight away but been to some great second hand shops recently and Waterstones had double points so got a few too many!
Feel free to suggest something else entirely as can be Audible or Kindle too.
Recent books I’ve enjoyed
– I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman
– Shark Heart: A Love Story by Emily Habeck
– Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
– The Book of Form and Emptiness by Ruth Ozeki
All time faves:
– The Last Samurai by Helen DeWitt
– Betty by Tiffany McDaniel
– The Sparrow by Mary Doria Russell
– Rebecca by Daphne DuMaurier
– Iain Banks (with and without the M), Ursula Le Guin, Austen, Nabokov
If you’ve got this far, thank you!
