Fiction recommendations for someone who dislikes fiction but wants to love it

Tl;DR: friend wants to get into reading fiction, but cants hold interest even when trying audiobooks and multitasking

Not for I, but for a friend. He is wildly jealous of me reading and enjoying fiction. I've suggested (and he's read) Fevve dream by GRRM, the first helldiver's book, the count of monte cristo, the bookshop from hell, after midnight, carmilla, and yes, even the storm light archives first book. I've also tried to get him into lit RPGs and even some Stephen King.

He used to be a gamer but developed a disability that made it impossible. He likes some horror movies and loves talking about ghosts and supernatural type stuff. He is home alone all day and has nothing to do so he really wants to read fiction, but says it just doesn't excite him enough to keep interest (also yes, he tried audiobooks).
