Alien abductions, portal fantasy (isekia), time travel, and post apocalyptic scenarios are the ones I'm drawn to. Stories where the safety and comfort of the modern world are suddenly and often violently ripped away, and the heroes of the story must find a way to cope. Rarely are disabled characters the focus of these types of stories in my experience.
I want to see a diabetic fight a gang of raiders for insulin, a person that needs glasses to function marooned a time before people knew how to make glass, or aliens studying a human with a severe mental illness. Stuff like that, an extra complication on top of an already impossible situation. The Mercy of Gods by James S.A. Corey did this pretty much perfectly by my estimation.
