Feel lost in life in my 20s, going to college but failing to know what I want to do the rest of my life and find it kind of depressing. Been looking at suggestions from other subreddits, I want a read that will open by mind and way of thoughts sort of say. I’m also looking for mental health books about emotional intelligence if that helps!

Demain by Herman Hesse. I remember there’s a part where the protagonist is talking about how his classmates just, like, decided they were gonna be doctors and then went and became doctors, or had a plan to be accountants and perfectly completed the steps to become accountants, and the main character was thinking ‘how the hell did you guys do that? I can’t even get past the deciding part!’ This is my approximate recollection lol. I read it about ten years ago, at the time in life which you describe. Good luck!
