me and my friend have started a bookclub, currently it's just the two of us seeing as none of our other friends wanted to join. I am picking the first book and I want it to be really good to set the tone for the bookclub yk. we both love autumn and dark autumnal vibes so I was looking for a short book ~250 pages or less (because we both have our own quite lofty reading goals). i was thinking something mysterious and spooky because its almost halloween. for context she reads mostly classics, mostly the bronte sisters at the moment, I read modern classics, mythology, and philosophical literature. any suggestions would be great!

I am Legend (1954) is only 160 pages. Very influential book that is also a great read. It is a great story of loneliness and horror.
