I recently read all three of Gillian Flynn’s books and I’m craving more.
I liked Sharp objects the best, followed by Gone Girl, and then Dark places. I find that character work, and explorations of complicated relationships are more important to me in a book than a thrilling plot. Although I’m now still in the mood for a book with some level of suspense, rather than just a character study (I enjoyed Boy Parts, but that would fall in the “not much of a plot” category)
I love books with complex female characters, who aren’t necessarily good people. I want my characters messy, trauma-ridden and a little unhinged even. Basically, one star reviews on Goodreads saying that “this book is bad because the female main character is so unlikeable” are usually a sign I will like the book.
Please recommend authors or specific books you think I would enjoy!
