I am a 15 year old girl who recently moved. I have severe depression and have been looking for a book to read. I don’t typically read to I don’t have any ideas. Any suggestions?
I was hoping of something that would help change my closed mindset or just something to make me happier. I am into Chinese and Japanese history (not manga) and philosophy and psychology. I also enjoy romance.
Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt. It’s charming, a bit unbelievable and very heartwarming. I hope you feel better soon.

If humor helps you out, you might try the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series. None of them are very long, pretty easy reading, and hilarious if you like British absurdist humor. There are some touching parts to it, but it’s mostly surreal and slapstick.

***The Emotional Lives of Teenagers*** by Lisa Damour. While geared towards parents, this book will explain much about what is going on with your developing brain and emotions at this time.

if you don’t read much, carmilla by sheridan la fanu is good. not long, in fact every single person i’ve recommended it to started and finished it in a day. very good book about a lesbian vampire 😀 there’s even a really nice illustrated edition that’s the most mainstream
