Just finished the book yesterday and didn't realize it was the ending because of how abruptly it ended.
I loved all of it, the slow pace, the subtle commentary on social order and justice, race and religion, freedom and obligation. It feels as relevant today as it did in the 1960s, when it takes place.
I loved learning more about Otto and Sophie and how far from stable their marriage actually was. The side characters felt so complex, despite the book being so short and their appearances being so brief.
This pacing in a book feels perfect for me. Do her other books have a similar feel?
