Also, a recommendation with a caveat: The Indian Lake Trilogy by Stephen Graham Jones.
Book 1: My Heart is a Chainsaw. I…did not care for this one. I went into it super psyched because it’s all about a horror movie obsessed outcast teen who finds herself smack dab in the middle of a real life slasher movie scenario of horrific supernatural nature. The story wasn’t bad, but the style in which this one was written…was not for me.
HOWEVER!
Book 2: Don’t Fear the Reaper. I read this one purely out of spite. I wanted to earn the right to say that I hated this series without anyone firing back with “but you only read the first book!” And…I genuinely enjoyed this one. The style was significantly different from book one, and I found this installment pretty fun.
Book 3, The Angel of Indian Lake, is going to be released soon, and I’m actually looking forward to it!
