I’m on chapter 40 of Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver and I REALLY want to finish it but every time I get further I’m just wondering “where is the good part” because there seems to be a lot of back story. Or is the backstory the main story?! I’m thinking of DNF which I rarely do but it’s just not holding my attention. To all who have read, do you think it’s worth me finishing? I honestly can’t tell at this point. It’s gotten such great reviews I just want to experience what everyone else is in regards to this book! TIA!

It’s worth finishing. It’s a masterclass in world building and character development. But if you’re a big reader for plot, this might not be the book for you.
Yeah, I DNF that one. It just kept going on and on and eventually I didn’t care.
I know people like to squeal over this like teenaged girls, but I found it to be little more than disappointing poverty porn. And I say that as someone who thinks The Poisonwood Bible is one of the best books he’s ever read.
I really loved this book.
However, it can be one of those situations where you put it down and come back to it at a later time.
OR you can DNF. I wish I had DNF’d some books that I powered through.
Life’s too short to read books you don’t enjoy or aren’t holding your attention.
I read a lot of fiction, many genres, and I have learned that there is not one novel that speaks to everyone. If a book isn’t grabbing you and you’ve given it a good shot, put it down! There are millions of other books to get to, so many that no matter how long you live, you’ll never get to them all. Don’t feel bad this read wasn’t for you, be excited for the next one 📚💖
Didn’t like so didn’t finish. Misery porn
