As title. I find books most relatable and immersive when at least part of the focus is another tenderhearted female. I'm very naive and loving and enjoy books where I can place myself in the leading person's shoes. I'm not fond of bold or tough female leads for that reason.

I like dark and gritty, love books where it seems bleak or even ends that way. I prefer fantasy but what I really want is something of high quality. I rarely read and I want it to be worth my time and something that grabs attention really early so I'm motivated to keep going. I'd really like something that's well known and often praised, like something people may find on a "best of all time" list.

I haven't read consistently in a long time, but I love the series Arcane, I love mysteries, thrillers, horror, Sci-fi, fantasy, dystopias, Apocalypses, etc,.

Bonus points if the protagonist is very dainty or feminine or initially weak and forced to persevere or prove herself. I love soft and gentle girls since that's how I am. I hope it doesn't sound weird, I've just read so many books where the lady smarts off a lot or acts really strong and it loses me.

    1. Anthroposapien on

First Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, Book of the Ancestor trilogy by Mark Lawrence, or His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman all have fantastic female leads and there is a good amount of grit, bleakness, magic, etc. in all of those trilogies, IMO.

    2. **The Bell Jar** by Sylvia Plath

**The Yellow Wallpaper** by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

      **Rebecca** by Daphne du Maurier

      **Jane Eyre** by Charlotte Brontë

**The Vegetarian** by Han Kang — more controversial so I can’t say everyone would agree it’s a “best ever” book, but it won the 2016 Booker Prize so it’s certainly critically acclaimed
