I read a while ago Leif G W Persson’s “The Dying Detective” in which he puts into rest his long time protagonist Martin Johansson. Similarly Arthur Conan Doyle killed his protagonist, though in a less peaceful manner (and naturally he brought Sherlock Holmes back a little while later).
Any other similar cases come to your mind, that are worth reading?
