With MIck Herron's Slow Horses giving people a taste for espionage tales with good dose of wicked satire, I thought I might remind people of Hopscotch by Brian Garfield (not to be confused with the better known Hopscotch by Julio Cortazar.)
A Cia field agent gets relegated to desk work and to get back at his annoying boss retired spy becomes bored with life in the slow and writes a memoir spilling secrets neither the CIA nor the KGB wants exposed. He releases the chapters one month at a time and challenges the two rival services to stop him, and so the game begins. HIghly entertaining, and action packed this one-time Edgar winner is worth checking out.
