Multigenerational series

I’m trying to help my mom find a series she loved several years ago. Here are the details she told me, that I haven’t had success with:

the series follows a family of women, starting with the great grandmother. Each book is loosely about the next generation of women in this family. The series starts in Germany and spans France, London, and California. A family cabin/lodge that is passed down becomes important to the story at some point.

Any ideas?!
