Hello fellow Redditors,
I’m on the hunt for entertaining and captivating audiobooks to keep me company during my drives. While I usually lean towards Sci-Fi, I recently enjoyed Starter Villain by John Scalzi, which wasn’t strictly Sci-Fi but was hands down the most entertaining book I’ve listened to this year.
I’m particularly looking for recommendations that have a comedic or lighthearted tone (at least occasionally), are easy to follow while driving, and feature excellent audio narration.
Here are some of the books I’ve really enjoyed so far:
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- The Martian by Andy Weir
- Artemis by Andy Weir
- Starter Villain by John Scalzi
- Agent to the Stars by John Scalzi
- 14 by Peter Clines
- Paradox Bound by Peter Clines
- Dark Matter by Blake Crouch
I’d love to hear your favorite audiobook suggestions! 🙏

Randall Munroe’s **What If?: Serious Scientific Answers to Absurd Hypothetical Questions**.
It consists of a series of questions on pop-sci and pop-culture, each answered in one or two paragraphs. The answers are hilarious in a dry-humored way.
An example question is: What would happen if you hit a baseball pitched at 90% of the speed of light?
Narrated by Wil Wheaton
I just finished Whalefall by Daniel Krause in one car ride. It was fantastic. Someone described it to me as The Martian, but inside a whale.
Additionally, some of Becky Chambers’ books like To Be Taught, If Fortunate and The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet were fun listens.
