I recently started to read literature to my 7 years old daughter. I read her 'The hitchhiker's guide to the Galaxy' and she enjoyed it very much, she was laughing at most of the jokes.
I would like to read her more funny literature, but I am not sure which. The books I read are not kid safe and that was the only book I thought she would enjoy.
I tried to read some kid's literature with detectives and stuff, but she can't get hooked with that. It's not funny and I get bored reading them.
I would like to read her the Graveyard book by Neil Gaiman, but I am not sure if she will get scared at nights. I haven't read it but I suppose it would be a good read for when she gets older.
Do you have any suggestions that is kid safe, funny, and interesting for me to read her?

Enid Blyton
Have you considered Terry Pratchett? The Discworld books might be a good fit.
The Graveyard book is family friendly. She shouldn’t get scared.
Alice in Wonderland is a classic and has some good puns and jokes, some of which might go over her head but you might enjoy.
Louis Sachar- Sideway stories from Wayside school or any roald Dahl.
I love that you read this to her at 7! Two gold stars on the parent chart for that
Personally, I think it’s the perfect age for reading good children’s lit – it’s often funny, and definitely age appropriate.
Second the Sachar’s Wayside school stories (there’s 4 books), Dahl, Lindgren (Emil being the funniest imo).
Even though it’s very much dated to its time and place, maybe A Fine and Private Place by Peter S Beagle.
Old fashioned but the ‘Just William’ books.
The Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant – it is kind of silly in a very fun way and very imaginative and has a clever, resourceful young heroine your daughter might like. (ETA: The sequel is a bit darker. Still a kids book, though.)
