More focused on the character development and quality of the writing rather than an exciting plot line. The longer the better; I like to get really stuck into it and I don’t mind novels that take their time.
Some of my favourite books:
– Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver
– A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving
– The Covenant of Water by Abraham Verghese
– Pachinko by Min Jin Lee
– East of Eden by John Steinbeck
– The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne
– Christodora by Tim Murphy
Appreciate any recommendations!

A Little Life but be sure to check out the trigger warnings
Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
The Count of Monte Cristo
Have you read any of John Irving’s other novels? Cider House Rules and The World According to Garp are also great. It’s been forever since I read it and I don’t remember the plot well, but I remember enjoying A Widow for One Year also. It’s the only one I haven’t reread out of the first two I mentioned and A Prayer for Owen Meany but I’d like to, soon. Some of my favs for sure
Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett
Shantaram by David Gregory Roberts
