I am starting a book club for preteens/teens and I’ll need to choose four books for the school year. I’m struggling to pick books because this is a group of mixed ages and reading abilities. The youngest are around 12 and the oldest are 17. I would like to choose books that spur thought and discussions, so serious topics are fine, but I would like to limit themes such as sexual violence or anything too explicit. I am having trouble finding a book appropriate for middle schoolers that would still be engaging for older readers.
