Hello! Just got into reading books and am looking for some recommendations but since it’s still new for me to read full books I try to keep with 200-ish or less pages.
I’d like to try some super creepy and twisty plots.
I’m usually really into shows such as:
Haunting of Hill House (and bly manor)
Or
Midnight mass
Books I’ve read so far that I really liked were:
The alchemist (I really loved the message)
Comfort me with apples (cool twist)
The stranger (interesting to read from a psychopaths perspective)
Currently reading:
We have always lived in the castle
Can anyone recommend short novels that can keep a new reader turning pages with a creepy and scary atmosphere, perhaps with a huge twist?
Murder mystery, ghost story-ish, psychological, etc?
Thank you!

If you liked the Alchemist, try Veronika decides to die by the same author. I actually enjoyed it more.
I’m not to far into yet, but They Killed Vleermie by Ioannis Campbell has been a unique read so far.
I who have never known men by Jacqueline harpman
The Laws of the Skies
The Seventh Sense by Kylian Gates is an excellent novella.
Hypocrites and Hallucinations by Kylian Gates is a collection of short works which also includes this story
Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk
My Sister, The Serial Killer by Oyinkan Braithwaite
The Day of the Triffids by John Wyndham
The Perfect Nanny by Leila Slimani
We Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Some Agatha Christie mysteries and Sherlock Holmes stories are short as well.
If you want a classic, Picture of Dorian Gray is on the shorter side!
*A Clockwork Orange* by Anthony Burgess and *Flowers for Algernon* by Daniel Keyes might be options. They might be a bit different from what you’re looking for, but they are both very good, short, at times creepy (and sometimes downright disturbing), and psychological.
Thanks for all the suggestions! 😍😍
