So I haven’t read lengthy books or series, just some Harry Potter and Agatha Christie level of books and I used to enjoy reading so much.
I haven’t read a book since almost 3 years now and would like to get back into reading. I enjoy thrillers, love stories, anything interesting. Even philosophy that would change perspectives or give insight about human nature or cultures would be good too.
My friend gave me A Gentleman’s Bastard but and I read it for a few pages and it was interesting but the sheer length made me gave it up.
So please can you suggest any recent book that develops story faster and is interesting to read so that I can make my way to read A Gentleman’s Bastard.

A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers
Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler
Murderbot Diaries
Oryx and Crake
The Test by Sylvain Neuvel
-all these were fast reads for me
I recommend The silent patient by Alex Michaelides. It is fast paced, with short chapters and with an intriguing plot. Hard to put down and you will read it quickly if you get into it.
