Not sure if this fits here, but I am looking for a specific book I remember reading as a child that I have had zero luck in finding. I don't remember the title or the author, but I remember vaguely what happens in the book.
It was about a few girls who lived nearby each other (maybe on a cul-de-sac?) and they found this portal (I think in an old well) that took them to a fairytale world. I also think they had to toss a magic coin into the well to do it. Each of them got a piece of jewelry when they were there that corresponded to some power they had. One of the girls I remember turned into a mermaid and then wanted to stay a mermaid and the other girls had to convince her that it was more important to get back home/complete their mission.
That is all I remember and if this is not the right group for this sorry. I read it back in elementary school, which for me was in the late-2000s.
