I've tried searching this sub and people have asked about social skills book, in various settings. However, nobody asked about a social skills bible! (no, Winning Friends and Influencing People by D. Carnegie is NOT comprehensive)
There's a YT video which is full of the type of advice I would love to see in the book — how to ask questions that make people love you by Newel of Knowledge. It gives tons of practical tips, and exact response examples, but also explains why it works (e.g. ask THESE kinds of follow up questions, because they tap into their emotional side/motivations).
Advice needs to be explained like I'm 5 and live in a cave alone, cuz e.g. I don't understand the concept of "starting safe and building up" — I would happily reveal my true thoughts and feelings to a stranger, if asked straight away without leading up to it. (It baffles me why don't other humans do the same, instead engaging in small talk that they don't really want to engage in anyway!)
In other words, I don't want to learn how to behave in every single type of conversations (that might not be possible to put into a single book anyway). I want a toolkit that will help me understand and read people's true desires/needs/nature, so that I can figure out how to act in any social situation.
