It’s my favorite book, and I’m curious what other people think of it. Personally, I love the writing style. I love how descriptive and archaic it is. I also really liked the story of it and found the characters interesting, especially reverend Arthur Dimmesdale. His death at the end actually made me cry, and I rarely cry because of books.

    1. It was a great read. I myself was not a big fan of the writing style, but I really enjoyed the story and the way it was told.

The author did a great job making you feel for the characters.

    2. I thought it would have been better as a short story—the plot felt dragged out to me. I also find Hawthorne’s writing style very dry, though, so that’s why I felt that way. I actually think you might be the first person I’ve ever seen say it’s their favorite!

Edited to add, I did like the story and the characters. It’s just the writing style is unbearable to me! To each their own though. It’s endured as a classic for a reason.
