so im looking for suggestions but im not the biggest fan of romance if its the main plot and i just straight up dont like high/medieval fantasy (i do like modern fantasy), but its really hard for me to get through non YA books.

i like pretty much every alice oseman book (aside from heartstopper), but some of my other favorites are Carry On by Rainbow Rowell, Scythe by Neil Shusterman, All Our Hidden Gifts by Caroline O’Donoghue, Only this Beautiful Moment by Abdi Nazemian, and A Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds.

sorry if this is too specific, i tried not to be but im picky with books and none of my friends have the same taste as me (theyre all fans of things like acotar which like cool if you like it but its definitely not my thing)

    1. Have you tried any books by Victoria Schwab? The Shades of Magic trilogy by her is YA, but urban fantasy, so it might be more like what you’re looking for.

    2. You might enjoy the Tiffany Aching books by Terry Pratchett. The first book is called Wee Free Men. They’re part of his larger Discworld series, but they’re written as YA and follow Tiffany Aching as she develops from a witch-in-training into a full fledged witch. You don’t have to have read any of the other Discworld books to enjoy these. In fact, these were the books that introduced me to his Discworld series.
