I really like how this book is such a page-turner despite it being a classic (not saying classics are bad but I usually have a hard time reading them). I find Erik such an intriguing character and really smart. I did study this back in school but this was the first time I read the original english novel instead of a shortened version. Raoul annoys me a lot though, maybe because hes like young and immature but he’s really possessive. Like Christine would be so worried talking about her experience and he’s like ‘oh well but do you love me:(‘This book has such a good plot, very moving and a lot of intriguing characters. It seems pretty underrated and rarely mentioned as anyones favorite classic in classic booktok though.
P/s: I think Erik deserved a happy ending. Sad what happened to him.

Dude, I agree. The Persan is so funny too.
Erik: You should leave at once, Raoul, for I am master of this domain!
Persan: Erik? Is that you? You still hiding in the walls?
Erik: Go away Persan I’m trying to be spooky 🙁
I loved the book version, too!
