Any genre is fine. I just want to read a book about an overall selfless person or at least somebody who sees themselves in that way. Preferably something a little depressing or edgy, lol, but if it isn't I'll probably read it anyway, haha.

Bartleby, the Scrivener – Herman Melville
Maybe you would like Anne Maddison’s Secret Admirer by Barbara Joyce Parker. Both the two main characters are like that (or seemed so to me, anyway). And it’s sort of bittersweet. It’s a sci fi though.
