Lately the books I've read have been okay, but not great. I'm really in the mood to sink my teeth into a book or series that is going to leave me daydreaming about it while I'm not reading, that's gonna have me thinking back on it for a while, that's maybe going to do something to my emotions that I'm not prepared for.
Books I've enjoyed recently: The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue, The Southern Book Clubs Guide to Slaying Vampires (still reading this one, no spoilers please!), The Master and Margarita, 3 Body Problem (the first, the second didnt grab me the same way).
Books/series I've enjoyed in the past: The Count of Monte Cristo, The Lies of Locke Lamora (whole series), The Girl in Times Square, Gone Girl, The Stormlight Archives, IT (up till the last 20% or so), literally anything written by Neil Gaiman (which I feel conflicted about now), Pride and Prejudice
Books that have left me wanting or I did not finish: Ready Player One, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Dune, The Name of The Wind, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, The Great Circle
So you can probably tell, I read a lot of deep fantasy, a lot of modern and classic fiction, and I like a good horror plot, unreliable narrator, etc I do not shy away from spook. I'm not against trying out some sci-fi but it doesn't tend to hit the same way. I love me a thick book, thick series, size doesn't scare me. Please help a girl out! I need some substance.
