Can anyone suggest a book that is part romance, part thriller?
I am looking to read something exciting, maybe a little political, that keeps me turning the page but also has a romance subplot. I am not looking for erotica. The romance can be subtle and not the main focus but where two people are in a "will they/won't they" situation that keeps me interested. However, there's more important stuff going on that keeps romance on the backburner.
The only comparison I can think of is the Hunger Games but I already read all of those. I am not especially seeking YA as a lot of YA is often not well written enough for me, but open to any "really good" suggestions.
Setting could be real world or fantasy world.
It could be a series or stand alone, but prefer a stand alone or at least a strong opening book.
Something recent / modern would be preferable!
