Looking for a positive or hearty book, but not cheesy or a romance

Ok, I’m not 100% sure what I’m looking for, so if your recommendations in any way fit the super vague description of what I’d like, I will try it!

I want something that is moderately wholesome or good/low stakes throughout. Or could be high stakes if the characters get it right or win. The general vibe needs to be good-natured.

But! I don’t want anything cheesy, and I don’t like love stories or romance, so none of that (in the background is ok).

And just to spice it up, I’m not looking for fantasy of sci-fi either, though can have elements of it. Obviously no dramas, horrors or thrillers. Can be philosophical, action, or whatever else.
