I really enjoyed reading Elio's inner dialogue. I really relate to him in a way. I remember feeling the same first time when I watched the movie when I was a young teenager. I felt how Elio felt. The desire and crush you have for another man and the confliction but also curisoity it gives you.
However I don't like Oliver. I think he stole so much from Elio. He was just there over the summer and he knew it. Still he chose to give in to Elio and steal his first time being with another guy. Then he left and got himself a family, having the stomach to tell Elio his wife is pregnant just half a year later. I think it's awfully sad and I hate it. Elio is 17, his first relationship with a man is very *very* important for him. It's like first crushes or lover you always remember them. Your first with a guy you also always remember. Oliver should have left him alone. He is 24 and got a life ahead of him, Oliver is still in school. Elio should have met a nice boy in his school or something instead and made a meaningful connection there, not with this 24 year old jerk.
I also really didn't like when he forgot the "call me by your name" thing, freaking jerk. – also when we look into the future the last few pages it's clear Elio is still not over it and it just makes me so sad how Oliver is just like "ohh yeah!! lmao sorry I almost forgot yeah I guess I had sex with you lol damn good times good times brother.."
