Please help me take a short break from American politics before it swallows me whole, and suggest me a book that’s clever, generally uplifting, witty, with extra points for goofy or funny

Books that I liked that fit these criteria include: The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy by Douglas Adams, Lamb by Christopher Moore, Good Omens by Gaiman and Pratchett, The Princess Bride by William Goldman, and The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith.

I also feel like the TV shows Resident Alien, Parks and Recreation, Ted Lasso, Raising Hope, Superstore, and The IT Crowd captured the criteria and ambience which I'm searching for in a book.
