Some good sci-fi/fantasy to get lost in?

I used to read loads when I was a kid but lost my passion (possibly due to A level English Lit) however I've been getting into audio books but have built up some credits on audible and want to spend them so I'm not wasting my money.

Since coming back to it, I've re read: the hunger games series, and his dark materials.

I have read dune and am getting through the altered carbon series (I'm loving the way this is written).

There does seem to be a theme of stories which have been adapted to the screen. I think this is because I know they will be quality. With that being said I would like to read something completely fresh that I dont know the story to.
