I'm looking for books that feel absolutely bonkers. I particularly enjoy it if it's our main character whose mind totally unravels as the book goes on, but I'm open to anything. No spoilers please!
The Devil Next Door by Tim Curran: Lots of TW though

Remainder by Tom McCarthy immediately came to mind as a book whose narrator is genuinely mentally unwell to tremendous effect. Things definitely unravel as the book goes on!

{{Hell’s Angels by Hunter S. Thompson}} who was very lucky to walk away in one piece, after all’s said and done.

The Box Man by Kobo Abe …. It’s dissociative and elegantly surreal.
However …. the absolute most unhinged shit I’ve ever read was Blue Lard by Vladimir Sorokin, I’m not sure I’d suggest it. Lol
