I’ve recently read Ryu Murakami’s In the Miso Soup and Piercing. I loved both of them. I think Miso Soup is the better one of the two but I really love the whole premise of Piercing and how the story unfolded. I plan on reading The Audition at some point but I’ve seen the movie adaption several times so I have that story fresh in my memory.
I also recently finished the Ring trilogy by Koji Suzuki. It’s easily one of my favorite supernatural story.
I’ve also read quite few works by Junji Ito.
Japan seem to be really good with horror. So can you suggest me a Japanese horror novel?
I also welcome any Asian horror novel. Your suggestion doesn’t have to be strictly Japanese. I have roots in American horror literature and would like to expand my collection of that genre to include Asian horror literature.

Kōbō Abe is my favourite horror writer! His style is more subtle and uncomfortable horror. My personal favourite is The Woman in the Dunes!
