If anyone could help me choose that would be great. I was originally going to read Tuesdays with Morris but my teacher said that wasn’t challenging enough. I’m not sure if I will survive reading either of these books with the lack of free time I have. A Tale of Two Cities is shorter but ultimately ,y it comes down to what book I actually enjoy and can focus on reading. Also, I have heard that the way Dickens writes may be difficult to understand because it is in ‘old english’ but For Whom the Bell Tolls also has quite a bit of spanish in

I personally enjoyed “For Whom The Bells Tolls” much more. Good luck! Google translate the spanish.

    2. If you’re worried about time to read, Hemingway will go more quickly. But TOTC does have evil knitting & guillotines if those appeal to you.

    3. I wouldn’t worry too much about the language in Dickens and it gets really exciting at the end. However, since For Whom the Bell Tolls is shorter, I would go with that. Maybe some other time you’ll give Dickens a try (I love his work).

Hemingway’s language is definitely much more accessible if you’re crunched for time. Dickens was paid by the word and could be quite dense and that’s even before considering the Victorianness of it all.
