A book that is brutal and beautiful

I have recently read 3 books that I really like and want to find something similar. The notebook, the third lie, the truth by Agota Kristof. Death in spring by Mercè Rodoreda and Money to burn by Asta Olivia Nordenhof.
I like all those three books because of both the way they are written, they are easy to read but full of life. They also have a story that is something else then a regular book. Its about a world that could be our but isn't or is but form a person who lives on the edge. It's brutal but beautiful. If someone have read any of those books I would love too hear what you think and get recommendations of a similar book.
