I prefer fiction but am open to non fiction if it is engaging/easy to get lost in. I like thrillers but prefer minimal violence/murder/people being awful. Below are books I have listened to and enjoyed
- American Gods by Neil Gaiman
- Ottessa Moshfegh books
- Emily St. John Mandel books
- Down the Drain by Julia Fox
- Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine
- If I Had Your Face by Frances Cha (I especially enjoy fiction that is not set in America)

Dick Francis wrote a bunch of standalone mysteries that have minimal violence. He was a former steeplechase jockey so his books connect to the horse world in some way but you don’t need to be a fan of horse racing to love his books. Plus he’s British so the narrators for his audiobooks have lovely accents!
I highly recommend using the Audible app if you enjoy listening to books while multitasking—many of these are even narrated by the authors themselves!

Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid has a full cast and is probably one of my favorite audiobooks.
