Hi, I have never read romance nor erotica before. I'm a clueless man.
I'm looking for a book that:

Appeals to women, possibly to men too

Appeals to mature women, especially if it is their embarrassing, dirty little secret that they will never admit to liking

Preferably well-written, a classic among romance/erotica readers from years back, and not something you like because you are quirky (not Fifty Shades)

Preferably has some erotica, but if it can't appeal to both women and men, then it should appeal to a women

It must have emotional development/awesome characterization, otherwise I call it junk

No werewolves and vampires, which I assume are for a younger audience

It would help if the suggestion is by a mature woman who has or had a decent partner, who knows what real men are like, and who still loves to dive into fantasies of ideal men and sexuality despite it, not as an act of desperation, but as an act of femininity
