I’m craving a book with a really niche vibe that I can only describe as ‘divine horror’

I really want something that treats the divine sort of like AM from I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream… Like a dystopian novel with God(s) and religion in the place of Government and Bureaucracy. Something that really evokes a vengeful or shameful god that has distain for its creations,

I don’t mind if it’s sci-fi or eldritch or something else. Just so long as it’s esoteric and devoid of hope.

Idk if this kind of book has even been written. The closest thing I’ve read is Milton’s paradise lost…
