Hey .. this might be an odd ask but I need book recommendations for my father to understand that mental health is not anything to be ashamed of. My father is an older black man who served in the military. Growing up, he was very strict but still, in his own ways, a loving father. I’ve been trying to explain why I’m the way I am and how his actions have affected me, but he’s very much of a “I’m sorry you took it that way” person. It’s getting exhausting having this conversation with him over and over again, but I want him to still understand and acknowledge at least himself. I understand the stigma of black men in the community and I know it’s hard, and I need something he can read and understand to be able to process it.
I know this is a very specific ask and if it needs to be done elsewhere please let me know. Thank you in advanced 😕
