I have a few days to read either one of these books for a short vacation. For anyone who’s read either, what are your thoughts on them? Would you recommend them?
For the record I have read Kafka on the Shore and did enjoy it, I did find it a bit lacking in deeper meaning. Although I may have missed the point completely lol it seemed a bit all over the place as far as themes go. Not to say I didn’t enjoy it, I did enjoy the tone and atmosphere but I do like when books give me something to think about or reflect on afterwards and didn’t really get that from Kafka On the Shore
I started reading Crime and Punishment as I have been wanting to for a long time but it’s not pulling me in right away. I’m a few chapters in for reference. I understand it covers more deep existential topics but does the pace pick up at all after the first few chapters? And would you say it's definitely worth it, even if it doesn't pick up?
Would love to hear your personal opinions on either/both. Thanks in advance!
(PS also accidentally posted in r/books initially if you're seeing this twice)
