I’m looking for books similar to the first trilogy of Red Rising. I’ll point a fee key features that I enjoyed about this book and maybe we’ll find something like that. Note that it doesn’t need to be a space opera, hell, my favorite genre is fantasy, yet I’ve devoured the first three books in record time. While I have the second trilogy to look after, I also want to have some other books lined up!
So what I’ve liked:
* The characters and the most important part of any books I enjoyed. I want loveable, main character and a cast of amazing and interesting characters. Someone flawed that makes mistakes and develops. My favorite books are the character driven ones. I want the mc to always develop, take hard decisions, lament them, try to be better, fail, succeed.
* Fast paced action with amazing set pieces, Red Rising went from set piece to set piece, the action felt fast paced, the momentum kept going and going I was always on the edge waiting for the shoe to drop and see how Darrow is going to react.
* Military focused, I want campaigns, tactics, politics, amazing plot twists! I want to feel that rush if excitment like “Oh my god what just happened!!!!”
* Paradigm shift concept, I love this concept that’s found within the series, doing a paradigm shift of your situation. My favorite series of all time has this concept on a far deeper meaning and it excels at it. So finding this in Red Rising just made me love this book even more. Paradigm shift basically is changing your situation when you’re on back end, defending, losing, to a better one by turning the tables and play a whole different games than the one the table.
I’m okay with romance but not being the main plot and all that drives forward the series. Unless they’re amazing, I’m not looking for the dystopsian revenge books, ala Hunger Games, and lastly id prefer a story without multiple pov or povs that changed a lot of times.
I want want a fast paced series, with amazing cast of characters, with a focus on ruling, military, conquering, revenge. I prefer fantasy an even female leads but anything is on the table.

May I introduce you to the series that is better than Red Rising almost 100%?
The Lord of the Silver Bow (and the subsequent novels). They are fucking amazing.
I wouldn’t have expected it from the description but the series “Dungeon Crawler Carl” scratches a red rising itch. First person narration with over the top violence and continually breaking “rules” to get out of an impossible situation
The Bloodworn saga – John Gwynne. I absolutely love this trilogy, hope you’ll enjoy it too.
