Humankind: A Hopeful History by Rutger Bregman.
This one takes on some serious topics and incidents. Ones that have been used to describe humanity as evil or deprived, and then debunks it with sources. It’s a book about how humans actually are naturally kind.
The Wedding People by Alison Espach
A novel about a depressed woman who checks into a luxury hotel intending to end her life, but instead befriends the bride getting married that week, gets absorbed into the wedding activities, and begins to love being alive again
The Offing by Benjamin Myers
The House in the Cerulean Sea was that for me! A little adolescent, but a lot of heart and just fun.
