I've read Amazonia by James Rollins and Congo by Michael Crichton and loved the setting of both. I like the idea of a dangerous jungle expedition. I've read quite a few James Rollins books, but the settings don't interest me as much as Amazonia. I'm a huge fan of the uncharted series for reference.

Fiction or non-fiction?
So Clive Cussler “co-wrote” two books with one of my fav crime novelists Thomas Perry. Both are good adventure thrillers. One is globe trotting and doesn’t have the Amazonia vibe (_The Tombs_) while the other, _The Mayan Secrets_, set primarily in Mexico, may be right up your alley.
If you’re interested in 19th century books, H. Rider Haggard wrote adventure novels set in the jungle, including *She* and *King Solomon’s Mines*.
